OPEN NOW UNTIL APRIL 29: Biological Technician (GS-0404-5) to help support and conduct biological restoration activities on Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n

Position:<\/p>\n

Two biological technicians will be responsible for implementing refuge habitat restoration at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. With these positions, the refuge will utilize multiple strategies in the restoration of sand prairie, oak savanna, sand woodland, and wetland communities including chainsaw, herbicide, prescribed fire, seed collection, seed storage, and seed and containerized plantings. Biological Technicians will be responsible for entering field data in mobile GIS applications including species occurrences, habitat management actions, and seed collection metadata. The technicians will have the opportunity to learn or sharpen habitat management abilities and network with employees of the USFWS Midwest Region and the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n

Location:<\/p>\n

These positions are based outside of Trempealeau, Wisconsin at the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. Trempealeau is located on the Mississippi River and is located within commuting distance of the La Crosse metropolitan area. The metro area offers opportunities for cultural and entertainment events including theaters, museums, concert venues and three colleges and universities. The beautiful 6200 acre Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge is known for its biological diversity, hosting over 5000 acres of marsh and bottomland forest wetland communities, and 700 acres of upland sand prairie and oak savanna\/woodland communities.<\/p>\n

Open & closing dates: 04\/20\/2022 to 04\/29\/2022<\/p>\n

Salary: $36,118 – $46,953 per year<\/p>\n

Pay scale & grade: GS 5<\/p>\n

Appointment: Not to exceed 6 months (seasonal)<\/p>\n
