With these positions, the refuge will utilize multiple strategies in the restoration of sand prairie, oak savanna, sand woodland, and wetland communities including chainsaw, herbicide, prescribed fire, seed collection, seed storage, and seed and containerized plantings. Biological Technicians will be responsible for entering field data in mobile GIS applications including species occurrences, habitat management actions, and seed collection metadata. The technicians will have the opportunity to learn or sharpen habitat management abilities and network with employees of the USFWS Midwest Region and the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n<p>Location:<\/p>\n<p>These positions are based outside of Trempealeau, Wisconsin at the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. Trempealeau is located on the Mississippi River and is located within commuting distance of the La Crosse metropolitan area. The metro area offers opportunities for cultural and entertainment events including theaters, museums, concert venues and three colleges and universities.
