{"id":78449,"date":"2020-01-29T13:23:13","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T19:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/logan-park.org\/?p=78449"},"modified":"2020-01-29T13:23:13","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T19:23:13","slug":"interpretation-internship-at-mount-rushmore-national-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/logan-park.org\/?p=78449","title":{"rendered":"Interpretation Internship at Mount Rushmore National Memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"WordSection1\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial\">\n<span style=\"color:black\">January 29, 2020<\/span><span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"color:black\">Dear Academic Advisor;&nbsp;<\/span><span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"color:black\">The National Park Service at Mount Rushmore National Memorial offers<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial\">\n<span style=\"color:black\">academic internships in the interpretive branch to qualifying students in the fields of interpretation, communication, history, parks and recreation management, natural<br \/>\nhistory, and related studies.<\/p>\n<p>Our interpretive internships allow students to fulfill a number of academic<br \/>\nrequirements while experiencing first-hand the interpretive operation of a<br \/>\nmajor National Park unit.&nbsp;&nbsp;This year is the&nbsp;7th year of the <b>Mount Rushmore History Association scholarship<\/b>. We are offering UP TO 6 scholarship positions. Each position, will receive a $2,000 payment on or about week 6 of the Internship and another $2,000<br \/>\n at the end of a completed 13-16 week internship. This year\u2019s internship season begins on 5\/10\/20.<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:black\">&nbsp;<br \/>\nInterns work alongside Mount Rushmore staff in conducting guided walks, interpretive talks, roving patrols, and providing visitor services at the information desks.&nbsp;&nbsp;After intensive orientation to the site and training in the role and practice of interpretation,<br \/>\n interns develop their abilities in<br \/>\npublic speaking and visitor services through supervisory coaching and teaching provided by one of our three certified interpretive coaches.<\/p>\n<p>Previous student interns have benefited from such hands-on experience when seeking employment with the National Park Service, related agencies or organizations.
