The link at the top of the page takes you to the position opening for the Pasco County Forester in Pasco County Florida. Position closes December 30, 2021.

The salary is low, but the cost of living in rural Central Florida is also low. We do not have a state income tax.

The position announcement says that you need a BS in Forestry with 2 years of experience, but because of the lack of applicants, they would likely accept a student that was fresh out of school that lacked the two years of experience. Fresh out of school they would downgrade the position form Senior Forester to Forester. After 2-3 years in the position the forester position would be upgraded to a senior position and there would be a bump up in salary.

This is CFA work, mostly with private landowners and some municipalities. There are also opportunities to work on the close by Withlacoochee State Forest from time to time. Most of the time on the state forest the position will be working on Rx burns, fighting fire or doing forest inventory. The bread and butter work is with the private forest landowners and doing urban forestry with homeowners.

Please distribute this to any of your graduates or soon to be graduates for their consideration. My cell phone number is listed below and I am happy to talk with anyone from SIU about the position if they have questions.
